Be flexible. This means being willing to adjust techniques and approaches to meet the learning styles of the student.
Be patient. What is obvious or easy for you may not be so for your student. Learn not to show annoyance in your speech or body language.
Be a good listener. Learn to pick up clues in your student?s speech that enable you to understand how he is really feeling. A good listener does not dominate the conversation!

My aim as a tutor is to create in my students a deep understanding and confidence in answering exam questions and being able to tackle new and unfamiliar problems. Tutoring reinforces my skills and techniques as I am exposed to different learning styles. It strengthens my communication and leadership skills and my ability to adapt these skills to individual students and their needs. These skills are important for my growth as a professional, whether I am in the teaching field full-time or not.

Teaching approach: I teach students without any pre-fixed method and handle them individually according to their specific needs. I am very patient with students and refrain from being too strict, instead communication is what I strive for with my students as that ensures they develop a certain level of trust in me which is necessary to be able to listen to a teacher's advice.
Why I teach: Teaching is a two way process. I love to learn as I teach my students and it helps me to stay motivated and satisfied in the academic field.

If you ask most potential teachers “why do you want to become a teacher,” they’ll mention the ability to make a real difference in students’ lives. Unlike other professions where you may work behind the scenes, as a teacher you’ll be up front to see the visible changes. There’s nothing quite like seeing the spark of understanding on a child’s face as a lesson “clicks” for them. Why teach? So that you can impact students from all walks of life, imparting lessons that will help shape the next generation.
