About teaching expand_more
My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my tuition to the needs of the student. I will tutor in my own home or that of the student. I will vary my style depending on the ability and needs of the student. I aim to run my tuition in support of the progression of my students through their subject syllabus, but I am also willing to progress more slowly and focus on particularly weak areas if the student so desires. I will also offer pre-exam revision sessions for all exams including modular resits and conduct end of topic tests and mock exams should the student desire.
Becoming a teacher means I will be molding future generations through the curriculum I set and bits of personal wisdom you impart. I will have the ability and power to teach life lessons as well as core subjects. There’s a good chance that I may be spending more waking hours with these children than their own parents. This means I wili love l be the one to help teach them social skills, time management, conflict resolution, how to cope with stressors and how to focus on a task.
A teacher will have good days and bad days. We are on a journey with the children and it is a journey which is not necessarily a joy every day. Sometimes it can be a real slog. The weight of expectations can be daunting. Parents have entrusted us with their most precious possession: their children. Our job is to accompany them on a journey, supporting, cajoling, persuading, encouraging, pushing and challenging them whenever we can.
Most of a teacher’s workload goes unseen, and the preparations for the journey are as important as the journey itself. Perhaps the most important aspect of this “educational journey” is that all the participants arrive at the destination safely, soundly and together. No-one is lost on the way or gives up. The participants in the journey help each other to make it to the end.
